Biography
Philip Martin is a British television director and screenwriter. He directed episodes of the long-running crime series Prime Suspect (1991), including the final instalment Prime Suspect: The Final Act (2006).
His other notable credits include the television dramas Hawking (2004), Einstein and Eddington (2008), two episodes of Wallander (2008), Agatha Christie's Poirot (2010), seven episodes of The Crown (2016–17), Catherine the Great (2019), Night Sky (2022), the feature film The Forger (2014), and Scoop (2024). He has also served as executive producer on several projects.
Martin won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or Dramatic Special for Prime Suspect: The Final Act (2006) and received further Emmy nominations and BAFTA recognition for his work on Hawking and Wallander.
