Biography
Susan Oliver, born Charlotte Gercke, was an American actress and television director. She studied at Swarthmore College and the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York, and appeared on Broadway in productions including Small War on Murray Hill (1957) and Look Back in Anger (1957–1958). She began working in film and television in the mid-1950s.
Oliver played Vina in the unaired 1964 Star Trek pilot "The Cage"; the footage was later incorporated into the 1966 two-part episode "The Menagerie". Her other television credits include guest roles in The Twilight Zone (1959), Bonanza (1959), MASH (1972, which she also directed), Murder, She Wrote (1984) and Magnum, P.I.* (1980). She directed episodes of several series and was a licensed pilot who flew solo across the Atlantic in 1967.
Oliver died in 1990.
