Biography

Susumu Hirasawa is a Japanese composer and musician. He took up the electric guitar in elementary school and in 1973 formed the progressive rock band Mandrake. In 1979 he reformed the group as the electronic rock band P-Model; he launched a solo career in 1989 while continuing with P-Model until its disbandment in 2000.

Hirasawa is known for his soundtracks for anime, including the 1997 television series Berserk and the films of director Satoshi Kon. He composed the music for Millennium Actress (2002) and Paprika (2006). He studied at Tokyo Designer Gakuin College.
