Biography
Taro Maki is a Japanese anime and live-action film producer. He was born on 23 May 1955 in Takayama, Gifu. After graduating from Waseda University Faculty of Law, he worked at Tohokushinsha Film and Pioneer LDC before founding GENCO Inc. in 1997, where he serves as president.
Maki has produced numerous anime films and series. His credits include Patlabor: The Movie (1989), Appleseed (1988), Serial Experiments Lain (1998), Millennium Actress (2002), Tokyo Godfathers (2003), Azumanga Daioh (2002), In This Corner of the World (2016) and PLUTO (2023). He has also worked on live-action projects such as Postman Blues (1997) and Downrange (2018).
