Biography
Terry George is an Irish screenwriter and film director. Born Terence Noel George on 20 December 1952 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, he briefly attended Queen's University Belfast.
He is known for screenplays and films dealing with the Troubles in Northern Ireland, including the co-written In the Name of the Father (1993), which he wrote with Jim Sheridan, and his directorial debut Some Mother's Son (1996). He also wrote The Boxer (1997) with Sheridan. George directed and co-wrote Hotel Rwanda (2004), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Other credits include Hart's War (2002), Reservation Road (2007) and The Promise (2016). He won an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film for The Shore (2012).
