Biography
Terry Hayes is an English-born Australian screenwriter, film producer and author. Born on 8 October 1951 in Sussex, England, he moved to Australia at the age of five. He began his career as a journalist before entering screenwriting.
Hayes met director George Miller while novelising the script for Mad Max (1979) and was subsequently hired to co-write the screenplay for Mad Max 2 (1981). He became an in-house writer and producer for the Kennedy Miller production company, contributing to films and miniseries including Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985), Dead Calm (1989) and Bangkok Hilton (1989). Later Hollywood credits include Payback (1999), Vertical Limit (2000) and From Hell (2001).
Hayes is also the author of the novel I Am Pilgrim (2014).
