Biography
Thomas Hescott is a British director and writer with more than twenty-five years' experience in television, theatre and film. He trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama, the National Theatre Studio Directors Course and on the BBC’s Emerging Directors Scheme. In 2017 he was named on the BBC’s New Talent Hotlist.
His television directing credits include episodes of Call the Midwife (2021–2022), EastEnders (2016–2026), Casualty (2018–2023), Holby City (2017–2019), Hollyoaks (2023) and Waterloo Road (2025). He has also directed short films including The Act (2020), which he wrote and which was nominated for a Most Promising Playwright Award in its stage version, and The Dark Room (2015).
Hescott’s theatre work encompasses productions at venues including the Arcola, Southwark Playhouse and the West End. He is a member of Directors UK Inspire and has been mentored by film director Tom Harper.
