Biography
Ticky Holgado, born Joseph Holgado, was a French actor. He was born on 24 June 1944 in Toulouse and died on 22 January 2004 in Paris.
Holgado began his career in music before working as a personal secretary to singers Claude François and Johnny Hallyday. He started acting in his mid-thirties, initially in small comedy roles. He gained wider recognition in 1991 for his performance as Marcel Tapioca in Delicatessen, directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro, and as Crayon in Une époque formidable..., directed by Gérard Jugnot.
He became a familiar character actor in French cinema, frequently collaborating with Jeunet on films including The City of Lost Children (1995), Amélie (2001) and A Very Long Engagement (2004). Holgado received two César Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor, for Une époque formidable... and French Twist (1995). He died of lung cancer.
