Biography
Tom Jones, born Thomas John Woodward on 7 June 1940 in Trefforest, Pontypridd, Glamorgan, Wales, is a Welsh singer and actor.
His career began with a string of top-ten hits in the mid-1960s. He has sold over 100 million records, with 36 UK Top 40 hits including "It's Not Unusual", "Delilah" and "She's a Lady". Jones received a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1966 and was appointed OBE in 1998 and knighted in 2005.
He made his acting debut in the 1979 television film Pleasure Cove and appeared as himself in Tim Burton's Mars Attacks! (1996). He also hosted the television series This Is Tom Jones and received a Golden Globe nomination for the role in 1970.
