Biography

Tom Riley is an English actor, producer and director. He was born on 5 April 1981 in Maidstone, Kent. He studied English literature and drama at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 2002 with first-class honours, and formed the theatre company Article 19. He completed the professional acting course at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 2005.

Riley is known for his leading role as Leonardo da Vinci in the series Da Vinci's Demons (2013–2015). Other television credits include Robin Hood in Doctor Who (2014), Augustus 'Augie' Bidlow in The Nevers (2021), and Raymond Boynton in Agatha Christie's Poirot (2008). He made his Broadway debut in a 2011 revival of Tom Stoppard's Arcadia, for which he received a Drama Desk Award nomination. He is married to actress Lizzy Caplan.
