Biography
Tyler Perry is an American actor, director, writer and producer. Born Emmitt Perry, Jr. on 14 September 1969 in New Orleans, Louisiana, he began his career in Southern theatre before making his feature directorial debut with Diary of a Mad Black Woman (2005).
He played Tanner Bolt in Gone Girl (2014). Perry has directed, written and produced numerous films and television series, including Route 187 (2026) and Doing Life (2026). He operates Tyler Perry Studios in Georgia and has maintained a partnership with the Oprah Winfrey Network.
