Biography
Uli Hanisch is a German production designer. Born in Nuremberg in 1967, he studied graphic arts in Düsseldorf and began working in film in the late 1980s.
He has collaborated extensively with director Tom Tykwer since 1996 on films including Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006), The International (2009) and Cloud Atlas (2012). His other credits include the series Babylon Berlin (2017–2022) and The Queen's Gambit (2020), for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award. He served as production designer on The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023).
Hanisch is professor of production design at the International Film School Cologne since 2018 and lives in Berlin.
