Biography
Valerie Heather Weiss is an American film and television director. She grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, studied molecular biology at Princeton University and earned a Ph.D. in biophysics from Harvard Medical School. She later trained at the AFI Directing Workshop for Women and founded the production company PhD Productions with her husband Robert Johnson.
Weiss has directed episodes of series including Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022–), Outer Banks (2020–2023), Suits (2011–2019), The Rookie (2018–), Chicago P.D. (2014–) and How to Get Away with Murder (2014–). Her feature films as director include Losing Control (2011), A Light Beneath Their Feet (2015), The Archer (2017) and Mixtape (2021).
