Biography
Vivean Gray (born Jean Vivra Gray) was an English actress. Born in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, on 20 July 1924, she moved to Australia in 1952 and appeared in guest roles in Crawford Productions dramas before gaining prominence in film and television.
She played Miss Greta McCraw in Peter Weir’s Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975) and Dr Whitburn in his The Last Wave (1977). On television she portrayed Ida Jessup in The Sullivans (1976–1983) for its entire run, winning two Logie Awards, Edna Pearson in Prisoner (1984), and Nell Mangel in Neighbours (1986–1988).
Gray retired from acting after Neighbours and returned to England, settling in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, where she died on 29 July 2016.
