Biography
Walter Long was an American character actor who appeared in films from the 1910s to the 1950s. He is credited as Gus in D. W. Griffith's The Birth of a Nation (1915) and also appeared in Griffith's Intolerance (1916). He played supporting roles in several films starring Rudolph Valentino, including The Sheik (1921).
Long appeared as a comic villain in four Laurel and Hardy films in the early 1930s, among them Pardon Us (1931) and Any Old Port! (1932). He had uncredited roles in The Thin Man (1934) and I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang (1932). Long died in Los Angeles in 1952.
