Biography

Waris Ahluwalia is an Indian-American designer and actor based in New York City. He founded House of Waris, a jewellery company whose first order came after the owners of Maxfield's in Los Angeles noticed his diamond rings.

Ahluwalia's acting roles include Vikram Ray in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004), The Chief Steward in The Darjeeling Limited (2007), Shai Kubelkian in I Am Love (2010), M. Dino in The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), and appearances in Inside Man (2006), Okja (2017) and Ocean's Eight (2018). He has collaborated frequently with director Wes Anderson.

He was inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2010. In 2016, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio proclaimed 19 October as Waris Ahluwalia Day in recognition of his work promoting tolerance and inclusivity.
