Biography
Wendy Carlos is an American composer and electronic musician. She studied physics and music at Brown University and composition at Columbia University, where she worked at the Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center.
Carlos is known for her pioneering use of the Moog synthesizer. Her 1968 album Switched-On Bach brought electronic arrangements of classical music to a wide audience. She composed the scores for Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange (1971) and The Shining (1980), as well as Tron (1982).
