Biography
William Hopper (born William DeWolf Hopper Jr.) was an American actor. The son of stage actor DeWolf Hopper and gossip columnist Hedda Hopper, he appeared in numerous films from the mid-1930s onwards, often in supporting or uncredited roles.
After serving in the United States Navy during the Second World War, he resumed his career in the 1950s. Notable film credits include Rebel Without a Cause (1955) as Judy's father, The Bad Seed (1956) as Colonel Kenneth Penmark and 20 Million Miles to Earth (1957) as Colonel Robert Calder. He is best known for playing private investigator Paul Drake in the television series Perry Mason (1957–1966).
