Biography
William J. Caparella is a film editor who has worked primarily in animation. He began in production assistant roles before his first animated feature credit as additional editor on Mulan (1998). He has since contributed to numerous animated features and shorts, often in associate or additional editing capacities before taking lead editor roles.
His credits as editor include the television specials Shrek the Halls (2007) and Prep & Landing (2009), the short Tick Tock Tale (2015), The Emoji Movie (2017) and Luck (2022). He also provided additional voices for Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch (2005) and voiced an alien in The Emoji Movie. In 2018 he joined Skydance Animation as lead editor.
Caparella studied aviation at college before switching to film classes, which led to his career in editing. He has spoken about the collaborative and iterative nature of animation editing compared with live action.
