Biography
Woodrow Parfrey was an American actor. Born Sydney Woodrow Parfrey in New York City on 5 October 1922, he served in the US Army during the Second World War and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He worked primarily in Broadway and regional theatre in the late 1940s and 1950s before moving substantially into television and film in the 1960s.
He appeared in the original Broadway production of Advise and Consent (1961). His film roles include Maximus in Planet of the Apes (1968), Mr Jaffe in Dirty Harry (1971), Clusiot in Papillon (1973) and the Carpetbagger in The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976). He made numerous television appearances, including episodes of I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, Batman, Bonanza and Little House on the Prairie.
Parfrey died in Los Angeles on 29 July 1984.
