Biography
Alain Sarde is a French film producer born on 28 March 1952 in Boulogne-Billancourt. He has produced or co-produced over 200 films since the 1970s, working with directors including Roman Polanski, David Lynch, Jean-Luc Godard, Bertrand Tavernier and André Téchiné. His credits include The Straight Story (1999), Mulholland Drive (2001), The Pianist (2002), The Ghost Writer (2010) and Venus in Fur (2013). He founded production companies Sara Films and Les Films Alain Sarde, the latter later sold to StudioCanal.
In May 2024, nine women accused Sarde of rape and sexual assault committed between 1985 and 2003. Sarde's lawyer stated that the accusations were false and described behaviour that he repudiates.
