Biography
Alan Ladd Jr., also known as Alan Walbridge Ladd Jr., was an American film producer and studio executive. Born in Los Angeles in 1937, he was the son of actor Alan Ladd. He began his career as a talent agent before becoming an independent producer in the late 1960s.
As an executive at 20th Century Fox from 1973, he greenlit Star Wars (1977). He later served as president of the Ladd Company and held senior positions at MGM/UA. His producing credits include Chariots of Fire (1981), Braveheart (1995), for which he shared a Best Picture Academy Award, The Man in the Iron Mask (1998), and Gone Baby Gone (2007). He died in 2022.
