Biography
Alex Hirsch is an American animator, writer, producer and voice actor. He created the Disney animated series Gravity Falls (2012–2016), for which he also served as writer and provided the voices of Grunkle Stan, Soos Ramirez, Bill Cipher and Old Man McGucket, among others.
Hirsch graduated from the California Institute of the Arts in 2007. Earlier in his career he worked as a writer and storyboard artist on The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack (2008) and contributed to Fish Hooks (2010). He later wrote for Inside Job (2021) and co-ordinated the story for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018).
Gravity Falls received BAFTA and Annie Awards. Hirsch has also written tie-in books including Gravity Falls: Journal 3 (2016) and Gravity Falls: Lost Legends (2018), both of which appeared on the New York Times bestseller list.
