Biography
Alex Nepomniaschy is a Russian-American cinematographer. Born in Moscow in 1955, he moved to the United States in 1974. He studied at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and graduated from the AFI Conservatory with an MFA in cinematography in 1982.
His feature credits include Safe (1995), for which he received the Boston Society of Film Critics Award for Best Cinematography, and Narc (2002). Other films are Never Been Kissed (1999), The Prince & Me (2004) and Take the Lead (2006). On television he has worked on series including The Americans (2016), Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life (2016), The Mentalist (2014–2015) and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2022–2023). He is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers and was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2013.
