Biography
Alf Clausen (born Alf Faye Heiberg Clausen) was an American composer. He was born on 28 March 1941 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and died on 29 May 2025 in Los Angeles, California.
Clausen studied at North Dakota State University, the University of Wisconsin and Berklee College of Music. He worked as a composer and orchestrator on television series including Moonlighting (1985) and ALF (1986), and on films such as Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) and The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988).
He is best known for his work on The Simpsons (1989), serving as the sole composer from 1990 to 2017 and scoring more than 560 episodes. He received two Primetime Emmy Awards and five Annie Awards for his contributions to the series, and was later credited as composer emeritus.
