Biography
Amy Irving is an American actress. Born on 10 September 1953 in Palo Alto, California, she is the daughter of director Jules Irving and actress Priscilla Pointer. She trained at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, and made her Broadway debut in The Country Wife (1965–1966) at age 13.
Irving made her feature film debut in Carrie (1976). She received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for Yentl (1983), an Obie Award for The Road to Mecca, and Golden Globe nominations for Crossing Delancey (1988) and other work. Her credits include Deconstructing Harry (1997), Traffic (2000) as Barbara Wakefield, and Unsane (2018) as Angela Valentini. She has also appeared in stage productions including Amadeus and Broken Glass.
