Biography

Amy Morton is an American actress and director, best known for her work in theatre. She has been a member of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company ensemble since 1997 and originated the role of Barbara Fordham in Tracy Letts's August: Osage County on Broadway, earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Play. She received a second Tony nomination for her performance as Martha in the 2012–2013 Broadway revival of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.

On screen, Morton has appeared in films including Rookie of the Year (1993), Up in the Air (2009), The Dilemma (2011) and Bluebird (2013). Since 2014 she has played Sergeant Trudy Platt in the NBC series Chicago P.D., with recurring appearances in the related Chicago Fire and Chicago Med. She played Jenny Bloom in the 2024 film It Ends with Us and Nancy Chore in the 2022 series The Bear.
