Biography

Andrea Datzman is an American composer. Born on 2 November 1980 in Contra Costa County, California, she studied music composition at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and completed the Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music.

She has collaborated with composer Michael Giacchino since the mid-2000s on numerous film and television projects. Datzman received composer credits on the television series Undercovers (2010) and Alcatraz (2012), the Pixar shorts Dug Days (2021) and Carl’s Date (2023), and the feature film Inside Out 2 (2024), for which she also served as executive music producer. She is the first woman to compose the score for a Pixar feature film. In 2025 she received the David Raksin Award for Emerging Talent from the Society of Composers and Lyricists.
