Biography
Andy Newbery is a British television director. Born in Hampshire in 1981, he began his career as a runner on productions including Doctor Who before moving into directing.
He has directed episodes of series including Casualty (2019–2021), Keeping Faith (2017), Hidden (2021), The Light in the Hall (2022) and Shetland (2023). He directed all eight episodes of the third season of Heartstopper (2024) for Netflix, taking over from Euros Lyn, and received a Children's and Family Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Live Action Series for the episode 'Journey'.
Newbery has worked extensively in Wales, directing Welsh-language dramas such as Pobol y Cwm and Bregus, and is learning Welsh.
