Biography
Anne Bauchens (1882–1967) was an American film editor. She worked for over forty years with director Cecil B. DeMille, editing the majority of his films from the mid-1910s until his final production, The Ten Commandments (1956). She received her first editing credit, shared with DeMille, on Carmen (1915).
When the Academy Award for Best Film Editing was introduced, Bauchens was nominated for Cleopatra (1934). She won the award for North West Mounted Police (1940), becoming the first woman to win in the category. She received further nominations for The Greatest Show on Earth (1952) and The Ten Commandments (1956). In total she is credited as editor on more than sixty films, the majority directed by DeMille.
