Biography
Barry Alexander Brown is a film editor and director. Born on 28 November 1960 in Warrington, Cheshire, England, he is English-born American. He has edited numerous films directed by Spike Lee, including Do the Right Thing (1989), Malcolm X (1992), He Got Game (1998), 25th Hour (2002), Inside Man (2006) and BlacKkKlansman (2018).
Brown co-directed the documentary The War at Home (1979), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature. He was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Film Editing for BlacKkKlansman. His other directing credits include the documentaries The Who's Tommy, the Amazing Journey (1993) and the feature Son of the South (2020). He has edited music videos for artists including Michael Jackson, Prince and Public Enemy, and has taught film studies at Columbia University.
