Biography
Barry Dennen (22 February 1938 – 26 September 2017) was an American actor and writer. He appeared as Watson in The Shining (1980).
Dennen played Mendel in Fiddler on the Roof (1971) and Pontius Pilate in the 1970 album, 1971 Broadway production and 1973 film of Jesus Christ Superstar. He voiced the Chamberlain in The Dark Crystal (1982) and appeared in Trading Places (1983), Superman III (1983) and Titanic (1997).
Born in Chicago, he began his career in New York and later spent fifteen years in London, where he created the role of the Master of Ceremonies in the 1968 West End production of Cabaret.
