Biography
Boris Sagal (1923–1981) was a Ukrainian-born American television and film director. Born in Yekaterinoslav (now Dnipro, Ukraine), he immigrated to the United States and trained at the Yale School of Drama.
He directed episodes of series including The Twilight Zone (1959), Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955), Combat! (1962), The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (1964), Columbo (1971) and Ironside (1967). His feature films include The Omega Man (1971) and Girl Happy (1965). He also directed the miniseries Masada (1981) and Rich Man, Poor Man (1976), for which he received Emmy nominations.
Sagal was married to dancer and actress Marge Champion from 1977 until his death in a helicopter accident in Portland, Oregon, in 1981.
