Brett Rice, also credited as James Brett Rice, is an American actor born on 20 April 1954 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He began acting after an impromptu audition while waiting for a friend at a theatre in Atlanta. Over the following five years he auditioned for productions across the city, securing a role in the television pilot The Catlins (1982) that led to a two-year contract.

Rice has appeared in numerous films and television series. Notable credits include Edward Scissorhands (1990), Forrest Gump (1994) as a high school football coach, Remember the Titans (2000) as Coach Herb Tyrell, Foxcatcher (2014) as Fred Cole, and Sully (2016) as Carl Clarke. He has accumulated over 75 film and television credits as well as extensive stage work.
