Biography
Brian Clemens was an English screenwriter and television producer. Born in Croydon, Surrey, he began his career writing scripts for low-budget films and series in the 1950s, later contributing to espionage and adventure programmes including The Avengers (1961), for which he wrote episodes and served as script editor and associate producer.
He created the spin-off series The New Avengers (1976) and The Professionals (1977). His film credits include the story for Highlander II: The Quickening (1991) and screenplays for The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1973) and The Watcher in the Woods (1980). He also wrote for Bergerac (1981) and other series such as The Persuaders! (1971).
Clemens was appointed OBE in 2010 for services to broadcasting and drama.
