Biography
Dennis Spooner (1 December 1932 – 20 September 1986) was an English television writer and script editor. He began his career contributing comedy material and writing episodes for series including Coronation Street before moving into drama and science-fiction scripting.
Spooner wrote for The Avengers (1961) from its early years and served as script editor on Doctor Who (1963) during the William Hartnell era, also contributing stories such as The Reign of Terror and The Time Meddler. He had extensive collaborations with ITC Entertainment, working on series including Thunderbirds (1965), UFO (1970), The New Avengers (1976) and The Professionals (1977), often alongside producers and writers such as Monty Berman, Brian Clemens and Terry Nation.
