Biography

Gerry Mill is a British television director and producer. He began his career at the BBC as a floor manager and production assistant on series including Hancock's Half Hour and Doctor Who (1963), working as a production assistant on The Massacre before directing the serial The Faceless Ones in 1967.

Mill directed episodes of numerous British series, among them Coronation Street, Z-Cars, Robin of Sherwood (1984), London's Burning and Heartbeat. He directed more than fifty episodes of Heartbeat and produced almost two hundred episodes of the series between 1996 and 2004. He is the godfather of actor Benedict Cumberbatch.
