Biography
Geoffrey Orme was a British screenwriter for film and television. Born Geoffrey Percival Orme on 10 June 1904 in Ilford, Essex, he began writing for the theatre before moving into film in the mid-1930s. His early credits included Sunshine Ahead (1936) and several Old Mother Riley comedies.
Orme wrote for television from the late 1950s, contributing episodes to series such as Ivanhoe (1958) and Interpol Calling (1959). He scripted the episode 'Man in the Mirror' for The Avengers (1963) and The Underwater Menace (1967) for Doctor Who, one of his final television works. He also provided additional material for the 1967 feature film The Long Duel.
Orme died on 21 January 1978 in East Sussex.
