Biography
Terrance Dicks was an English television screenwriter, script editor and author. He began his television career writing episodes of The Avengers (1961) with Malcolm Hulke and later contributed to other series including Crossroads.
Dicks joined Doctor Who (1963) in 1968 as assistant script editor and served as script editor from 1969 to 1974, working closely with producer Barry Letts on the Jon Pertwee era. He wrote several episodes for the series, including The War Games (1969, with Hulke), Robot (1974–75), Horror of Fang Rock (1977) and The Five Doctors (1983). He also wrote more than sixty novelisations of Doctor Who stories for Target Books and later original novels for Virgin and BBC Books.
Dicks was born Terrance William Dicks on 14 April 1935 in East Ham, London, and died on 29 August 2019.
