Biography

Brian Delate is an American actor born on 8 April 1949 in Trenton, New Jersey. He served in the Vietnam War before training at Rider University, where he received a BFA in theatre. After moving to New York City, his first professional stage work came in 1981 with the New York Shakespeare Festival in Central Park productions of Henry IV, Part I and The Tempest.

Delate is known for film roles including Guard Dekins in The Shawshank Redemption (1994), Walter Moore / Kirk Burbank in The Truman Show (1998), and Detective O'Connor in The Brave One (2007). He has also appeared in numerous episodes of the Law & Order franchise and has an extensive stage career, including acclaimed work in Tracers in New York and London, and a Broadway production of Salome with Al Pacino.
