Biography
Brian Hayles was an English television and film writer. He wrote for the BBC series Z-Cars (1962) and contributed six stories to Doctor Who (1963) between 1966 and 1974, creating the Celestial Toymaker, the Ice Warriors and the planet Peladon.
His other television work included episodes of Doomwatch, Out of the Unknown and The Regiment, as well as creating the football soap United!. Hayles wrote the screenplays for the feature films Nothing But the Night (1972) and Warlords of Atlantis (1978). He also wrote for radio, including The Archers, and published several novels and novelisations.
