Biography
Bronagh Gallagher is an Irish actress and singer from Derry, Northern Ireland. Born in 1972, she began performing in drama and music while at school and joined the local Oakgrove Theatre Company. Her screen debut came in the 1989 television film Dear Sarah.
Gallagher became known internationally for her role as Bernie McGloughlin in The Commitments (1991). Subsequent film appearances include Pulp Fiction (1994), Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999), Tristan & Isolde (2006), Sherlock Holmes (2009) and The Personal History of David Copperfield (2019). On television she has appeared in Brassic (2019–2025) and Belgravia (2020). She plays Booker in the 2026 series How to Get to Heaven from Belfast. She has also released albums as a singer, including Precious Soul (2004).
