Biography

Bruce McCleery, also credited as Robert Bruce McCleery, is an American cinematographer and member of the American Society of Cinematographers. He began his career as a lighting technician and gaffer on features including Independence Day (1996), Pleasantville (1998) and Friday Night Lights (2004). After studying film at UCLA, he moved into second-unit and additional photography on major studio productions.

His second-unit and additional photography credits include Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), Star Trek Beyond (2016), The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), Super 8 (2011), Tomorrowland (2015), Terminator: Dark Fate (2019) and Wrath of Man (2021). He served as Volume Director of Photography and additional photographer on the series Fallout (2024–), and as director of photography on one episode. He has also been director of photography on independent features such as Sabotage (2014) and Don’t Fade Away (2011).

McCleery joined the ASC in 2020. He was born on 26 April 1959.
