Biography
Carl 'Major' Roup was an American actor and later assistant director. Born on 4 April 1915 in Emmett, Idaho, he began his career as a child actor in silent films.
He appeared uncredited in several MGM productions of the 1920s, including as a Doughboy in The Big Parade (1925) and as a Train Station Vendor in Flesh and the Devil (1926). Other early credits include roles in The Red Mill (1927) and They Learned About Women (1930).
From the 1930s onwards Roup worked primarily behind the camera as a script clerk and assistant director on numerous features and television series, including Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954) and episodes of Mission: Impossible. He died on 20 March 2002 in North Hollywood, California.
