Biography
Carson McColl is a British production designer and costume designer who works with husband Gareth Pugh under the studio name Hard+Shiny. The pair served as both production designers and costume designers on Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later (2025) and its follow-up 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026).
McColl and Pugh previously worked in high fashion and performance art, creating designs for artists including Beyoncé and Lady Gaga. Their work on the films marked their first major feature credits and involved extensive sourcing and construction in northeast England.
