Biography
Cary Brokaw is an American film and television producer and entertainment executive. He founded Avenue Pictures in 1987 and has served as its chief executive officer. Brokaw began his career in marketing and distribution at Twentieth Century-Fox before holding executive positions at Cineplex Odeon Corporation and Island Pictures.
He produced Short Cuts (1993), directed by Robert Altman, and has served as producer or executive producer on films including Down by Law (1986), The Player (1992), Restoration (1995), Closer (2004) and Mindhunters (2004). Brokaw received an Independent Spirit Award for Short Cuts and Emmy Awards for the television films Wit (2001) and Angels in America (2003). He was partnered with director Mike Nichols from 1999 to 2006.
Brokaw holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley (1973) and an MBA with honours from the University of California, Los Angeles (1976).
