Biography
Charlotte Bingham (29 June 1942 – 16 November 2025) was an English novelist and television scriptwriter. Born in Haywards Heath, Sussex, she published her first book, the autobiographical Coronet Among the Weeds, in 1963 at the age of 20. She went on to write more than 30 mainly historical romance novels.
Bingham frequently collaborated with her husband, the actor and writer Terence Brady, whom she married in 1964. Together they contributed scripts to several television series, including three early episodes of Upstairs, Downstairs (1971–72), as well as No, Honestly (1974–75), Take Three Girls and Robin's Nest. She also wrote episodes for Play for Today and other series.
Bingham received the Romantic Novelists' Association Award for Best Romantic Novel in 1996. Her husband died in 2016.
