Biography
Cheryl Campbell is an English actress. Born on 22 May 1949 in St Albans, Hertfordshire, she trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and began her career in repertory theatre, including seasons at the Palace Theatre, Watford, Birmingham Rep and the Citizens' Theatre, Glasgow.
She is known for her stage work with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal National Theatre, winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Revival for her performance as Nora Helmer in A Doll's House (1982). Her film roles include Jennie Liddell in Chariots of Fire (1981), Lady Alice Clayton in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984) and Lady Aline Hartlip in The Shooting Party (1985). On television she has appeared in Pennies from Heaven (1978), Testament of Youth (1979), Agatha Christie's Poirot (2009), Call the Midwife (2012) and Peep Show (2003).
