Biography

Christopher Evan Welch was an American actor known for roles in film, television and theatre. He was born on 28 September 1965 in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and died on 2 December 2013 in Santa Monica, California, from complications of lung cancer.

Welch trained at the University of Dallas and the University of Washington, and began his career in regional theatre before moving to New York. He appeared in Broadway and Off-Broadway productions including Festen, The Crucible and A Streetcar Named Desire, for which he received an Obie Award. On screen he played the narrator in Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008), a clerk in Lincoln (2012) and John More in The Master (2012). His final role was as the eccentric investor Peter Gregory in the first season of the HBO series Silicon Valley (2014).
