Biography
Christopher Morahan was a British stage and television director and producer. Born in London, he trained at the Old Vic Theatre School and began directing for television in the late 1950s, including episodes of Z-Cars and Play for Today.
He served as Head of Plays at the BBC from 1972 to 1976 and later joined the National Theatre as deputy director. Morahan produced and co-directed the acclaimed series The Jewel in the Crown (1984) for Granada Television. His feature film Clockwise (1986) starred John Cleese. He was appointed CBE in 2011 for services to drama and died in 2017.
